Job summary

Pertemps Recruitment Partnership is recruiting on behalf of Harrow Council for a Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician. The role is a temporary assignment in Harrow, offering an hourly rate and chances to upskill within fleet services.

You will carry out inspections, servicing and repairs to fleet vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring compliance with DVSA standards and H&S requirements. A valid UK driver’s license and an HGV license are essential.

Qualifications

• Holds a valid UK Driver's Licence with access to a personal vehicle.
• Holds a current UK Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Licence.
• Qualified, or willing to train, in MOT testing for Classes 4, 5, and 7.
• Experienced in ensuring compliance with Operator Licence and DVSA requirements for fleet vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular inspections, servicing, and repairs of vehicles, equipment, and plant machinery.
• Ensure all fleet assets are maintained to the highest standards, remain operational, and comply with Health & Safety regulations, Operator Licence requirements, and DVSA standards, minimising disruption to service delivery.
• Diagnose and report recurring manufacturer faults to the Workshop Supervisor or Manager.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance technical knowledge and support the delivery of a safe, reliable fleet.
• Work flexibly within shift patterns, including weekends, standby, and callouts, to ensure service coverage during core business hours.
• Promote teamwork and collaboration, while taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.

Role Overview

Pertemps is proud to present an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician to join Harrow Council's fleet services team. Candidate Profile

• Holds a valid UK Driver's Licence with access to a personal vehicle.


• Holds a current UK Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Licence.


• Qualified, or willing to train, in MOT testing for Classes 4, 5, and 7.


• Experienced in ensuring compliance with Operator Licence and DVSA requirements for fleet vehicles.


• Adaptable to changing demands, with the ability to meet objectives, resolve issues, and make sound decisions.


• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with effective presentation and interpersonal abilities.
