Job summary

Harrow Council is seeking a Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician to join the fleet services team in Harrow, Middlesex. The role involves inspections, servicing and repairs of vehicles, equipment and plant machinery, up to 40 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate and structured training opportunities.

You will work in a professional environment with DVSA, Operator Licence compliance, and health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude required for inspections and repairs.
• Ability to diagnose faults efficiently and communicate results.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs of vehicles, equipment and plant machinery.
• Maintain fleet assets to high standards and ensure DVSA compliance and operator licence requirements.
• Diagnose and report recurring faults to the Workshop Supervisor or Manager.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance technical knowledge and safety.
• Work flexibly within shift patterns, including weekends, standby and callouts.
• Contribute to achieving a high first-time MOT pass rate.
