Job summary

Harrow Council is seeking a Workshop Technician (Semi-Skilled/Skilled) to support its fleet services in Harrow. The role is temporary, up to 40 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate (£21.23–£24.16) negotiable by experience and structured training plus 21 days of annual leave.

You will inspect, service, and repair vehicles and plant equipment, diagnose faults, and complete safety checks to keep frontline operations running, while adhering to DVSA standards and Operator Licence

Qualifications

• Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand and power tools.
• Follows technical instructions and safety procedures.
• Willingness to train for MOT testing and DVSA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs of vehicles, equipment and plant machinery.
• Maintain fleet assets to high standards and ensure operational readiness.
• Diagnose recurring faults and report to supervisor; partake in ongoing training.
