Job summary

Veolia at Bromley is seeking a Vehicle Technician to repair and maintain Veolia fleet and 3rd party vehicles to factory and industry standards. You will diagnose issues using specialised equipment and perform hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic repairs.

The role requires adherence to Health & Safety rules, timely paperwork, and effective coordination with technicians and contractors. A valid City & Guilds or HGV NVQ Level 3, strong IT skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• Essential City & Guilds/HGV NVQ3 in vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• Good communication and IT literacy are required.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain Veolia fleet and 3rd party vehicles to standards.
• Diagnose issues with specialised equipment; perform hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic repairs.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and complete paperwork accurately.
• Conduct HGV MOT inspections and emergency roadside repairs.
• Coordinate work with technicians, contractors, and depot teams.

Salary: Up to £52,249 per annum plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Shifts: Rolling basis alternative weeks, 6:30 - 15:30 or 9:00 - 18:00

Location: Baths Road, Bromley, Kent, BR2 9RB

What you'll be doing;

• Repair and maintain Veolia fleet and 3rd party vehicles/plant to factory and industry standards.
• Perform vehicle diagnostics using specialized equipment and conduct hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic repairs.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain workplace safety standards.
• Complete all required paperwork, timesheets, and operational update sheets accurately and timely.
• Conduct HGV MOT inspections, preparations, and emergency roadside repairs.
• Serve as first point of contact for technicians and coordinate work allocation effectively.
• Manage contractor communications, tire services, and perform 4-point MOT checks.
• Conduct weekly workshop inspections and manage job card processes.
• Ensure proper shift handovers and maintain technician productivity above 80%.
• Coordinate holiday schedules, training allocation, and wash operative coverage across all depots.

What we're looking for;

Essential:

• City & Guilds, or HGV NVQ level 3 vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Good communication skills.
• The ability to work under pressure, actively seek solutions to problems and having the flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks are all key attributes.

Desirable:

• Forklift licence (Counterbalance)
• HGV Licence
• Welding/fabrication skills
• Plant/RCV experience
• IRTEC approved
• Electrical knowledge
• Leadership experience
