Job summary

Stagecoach Perth depot is hiring a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead a team across a fleet of 102+ vehicles. Based at Perth Depot, you’ll oversee maintenance planning, quality checks, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, reliable, and well-presented buses.

With NVQ Level 3 in engineering and strong leadership, you’ll drive continuous improvement while safeguarding health and safety. The role offers a competitive salary and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical/automotive engineering.
• Experience supervising or managing a workshop team.
• Solid understanding of health and safety practices in vehicle workshops.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the workshop team to deliver safe, reliable, and well-presented vehicles.
• Schedule and prioritise vehicle maintenance and servicing activities.
• Support team development, identify training needs, and drive continuous improvement.
• Quality check vehicles after maintenance to ensure high standards.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards in line with legislation and Stagecoach policy.

We’re looking for a hands‑on, people‑focused Workshop Manager for our Perth depot, supporting a fleet of over 102 vehicles across East Scotland.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading and motivating your team to deliver safe, reliable and well-presented vehicles
• Scheduling and prioritising vehicle maintenance and servicing activities
• Supporting team development, identifying training needs and fostering continuous improvement
• Quality checking vehicles after maintenance to ensure high standards are met
• Upholding health, safety and environmental standards in line with legislation and Stagecoach policy

What we’re looking for

• Relevant engineering experience, including mechanical, electrical and bodywork knowledge
• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant engineering field (mechanical or automotive)
• Experience managing or supervising a workshop or technical team, and a strong understanding of PCV operations
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices and regulatory standards
• A people‑centred approach to leadership, with strong communication and influencing skills
• Ability to plan, analyse, and make confident decisions in a dynamic environment
