Job summary

Stagecoach Eastbourne is seeking a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead a depot team responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a fleet of over 60 vehicles based at Eastbourne Depot.

You will drive safe, reliable vehicle presentation and plan maintenance schedules, while developing the team and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. A NVQ Level 3 in mechanical/automotive engineering is required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical or automotive engineering.
• Experience managing or supervising a workshop or technical team.
• Knowledge of PCV operations.
• Strong health and safety practices and regulatory standards.
• People-centred leadership with good communication and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading and motivating your team to deliver safe, reliable and well-presented vehicles.
• Scheduling and prioritising vehicle maintenance and servicing activities.
• Supporting team development, identifying training needs and fostering continuous improvement.
• Quality checking vehicles after maintenance to ensure high standards are met.

What we’re looking for

• Relevant engineering experience, including mechanical, electrical and bodywork knowledge
• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant engineering field (mechanical or automotive)
• Experience managing or supervising a workshop or technical team, and a strong understanding of PCV operations
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices and regulatory standards
• A people‑centred approach to leadership, with strong communication and influencing skills
• Ability to plan, analyse, and make confident decisions in a dynamic environment
