Taylor Higson in Bedford seeks a Workshop Engineer to join its global technology operation, blending electronics, software and systems with hands-on hardware. You’ll own complex equipment from pre-staging to customer-ready configuration, working mainly from the Bedford site.
You’ll install and update software and firmware, configure equipment to customer requirements, troubleshoot faults, document configurations and support new product testing.

Are you an experienced engineer who is equally comfortable working with software and systems as you are with physical equipment?
We\'re recruiting for an established global technology business looking to add a Workshop Engineer to its technical operation in Bedford.
This isn\'t a traditional nuts-and-bolts workshop role. The equipment you\'ll work with combines electronics, software, connectivity and increasingly intelligent technology, so we\'re looking for someone with a practical engineering background and strong IT/software capability.
Working predominantly from the Bedford facility, you\'ll take ownership of sophisticated technical equipment before it reaches customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
You will be given plenty of autonomy and trusted to manage your workload, solve problems and ensure equipment is configured correctly and ready on time.
You don\'t need to be a programmer or software developer, but you should be confident working with modern software-driven equipment.
Experience across some of the following would be particularly relevant:
An HNC/BTEC Level 4 or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering would be advantageous, although strong hands-on experience will also be considered.

Up to £35,000 salary, 10% performance bonus, enhanced employer pension contribution, private medical and life assurance, 26 days holidays plus bank holidays.
