Job summary

McHale Komatsu in Cardiff is seeking an experienced Workshop Engineer to join our depot. You will service, maintain and repair a wide range of construction equipment, carry out inspections and pre-delivery checks, and ensure each machine leaves the workshop to the highest standard.

You will work with an experienced team, have access to quality tooling, ongoing training, and opportunities to develop your technical skills while servicing some of the industry's leading equipment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
• Experience on heavy plant or construction equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience using workshop equipment and tooling.
• Welding and oxy-acetylene experience advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Proactive approach with high workmanship standards and attention to detail.
• Good communication and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Komatsu and other construction equipment.
• Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and machine modifications.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Carry out repairs, overhauls and component rebuilds.
• Complete post-repair testing and inspections to meet performance standards.
• Identify and order parts required for repairs.
• Complete all service documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
