Job summary

SGS is seeking a hands-on Workshop Engineer to join our Materials Testing team in Consett. You will operate workshop and machining equipment, prepare precision metal samples, and support testing activities while maintaining quality and traceability. This is a full-time, permanent role with 40 hours per week.

Training will be provided for the right person who enjoys practical work and teamwork. Hours: Mon-Thu 8am-4:30pm; Fri 6am-2:30pm.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for practical, reliable individuals who enjoy working with their hands, take pride in producing high-quality work, and have a strong attention to detail.

This role could suit candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including: Engineering or manufacturing, Production or assembly, CNC or machining environments, Automotive or vehicle maintenance, Mechanical fitting or fabrication, Welding and metalwork, or Construction trades.
