Job summary

Slater Birtley in Leeds is hiring an HGV Workshop Controller for our busy DAF Trucks dealership. You will schedule and supervise maintenance, servicing and repairs on a range of trucks, ensuring DVSA standards are met.

This role operates a 4 on, 4 off shift (6am–6:30pm) and offers development opportunities, pension and onsite parking as part of a friendly, inclusive team. You\'ll lead a small team, manage workshop performance, and drive service levels while adhering to health and safety

Qualifications

• Experience as a Workshop Controller in HGV, CV, LGV, PSV, or related sectors.
• Servicing, maintaining and repairing trucks to meet current legislative requirements.
• DVSA standards documentation and records knowledge; up-to-date H&S practices.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise maintenance, repair and overhaul of commercial vehicles.
• Organise service and repair documentation in line with company standards and legal requirements.
• Monitor workshop housekeeping and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Lead performance and absence management; ensure high service levels.

HGV WORKSHOP CONTROLLER (4 on, 4 off shift pattern)

Ford and Slater are one the UK’s largest DAF Truck dealers group with 16 locations from Norwich to Birtley in the North East, employing over 900 staff whilst remaining a family run business. We currently have an exciting position as an HGV Workshop Controller in the fantastic team at our newly refurbished DAF Trucks dealership in Leeds.

Who are we looking for as an HGV Workshop Controller:

• You will have previous experience working as a Workshop Controller within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector (ideally in a Main Dealer).
• Experience of servicing, maintaining and repairing trucks / vehicles to meet current legislative requirements.
• Previous experience of completing service and repair documentation and records to meet required DVSA standards.Up to date knowledge of basic H&S legislation and practices.

The HGV Workshop Controller role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

As an HGV Workshop Controller, based in our busy Workshop environment, you will be required to schedule and supervise the maintenance, repair and overhaul of a variety of Commercial Vehicles, as well as standard servicing and diagnostics. Organise service and repair documentation and any/all other maintenance documentation in accordance with Company standards and legal requirements.

Monitor the maintenance of housekeeping across all sections of the Workshop and that it remains compliant with statutory requirements. People management responsibilities including performance and absence management. Overall responsibility for the Workshop performance and service levels.

The HGV Workshop Controller working pattern is 4 on, 4 off, 6am – 6:30pm.
