Hand on Workshop Controller Norwich

Our client, a fantastic main dealer in the Norwich region, is looking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Controller.

Our client is known for its customer care. The Workshop Controller role is a key position within the dealership. The responsibilities include liaising with the Service Department, answering queries from other departments and customers, quality checking, ordering parts, conducting audits and ensuring compliance, as well as health and safety.

As the line manager for technicians, the Workshop Controller is responsible for performance management, coaching, and development of the team, along with working hands-on. The role involves carrying out light duties and MOTs when required. This is a customer-facing role, which may include road tests and managing query resolution. The Workshop Controller is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards and will spend approximately 50% of the time on tools and 50% off tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Satisfaction: Assist management in implementing and maintaining effective processes to achieve high customer satisfaction.
  2. Generating Gross Profit: Maximise revenue by increasing hours available, driving revenue per transaction, adhering to VHC processes, and motivating product sales.
  3. Workshop Loading: Distribute and control the work issued to technicians to maximise quality and efficiency.
  4. Supervising the Team: Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the team to meet daily objectives.
  5. Parts Liaison: Maintain a strong relationship with the parts department to ensure parts availability.
  6. Documentation Quality: Ensure accurate completion of all relevant documentation for each repair.
  7. Manufacturer Warranty Standards: Ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty standards and requirements.
Benefits of this Workshop Controller role:
  • £36,000 basic salary + bonus, negotiable depending on experience
