Job summary

AutoSkills UK in Birmingham is seeking an Experienced Bodyshop / Workshop Controller to lead a busy accident repair centre and drive productivity, repair quality, and customer satisfaction. The role carries a from £40,000 salary with a variable monthly team bonus.

This full-time position runs Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00, in a modern facility with opportunities for ongoing training and career progression. Autoflow experience and a valid UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Bodyshop Controller, Workshop Controller, Production Controller, or Bodyshop Team Leader within an automotive accident repair centre.
  • Essential experience using Autoflow Bodyshop Management Software.
  • Strong understanding of panel, paint, and MET repair processes.
  • Proven ability to manage workshop productivity, technician utilisation, and repair quality.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and scheduling skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to maximise workshop performance and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily workflow of the bodyshop, ensuring vehicles progress efficiently through every stage of repair
  • Allocate work effectively across Panel, Paint, and MET departments to maximise workshop productivity
  • Monitor technician performance, labour efficiency, work quality, and repair completion times
  • Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer repair methods, insurance requirements, BS10125 standards, and company procedures
  • Liaise with Vehicle Damage Assessors, Parts Advisors, Insurance Companies, and customers to maintain excellent communication throughout the repair journey
  • Proactively identify and resolve production delays to ensure customer delivery dates are achieved
  • Carry out quality control inspections before vehicle handover to maintain exceptional repair standards
  • Promote a positive workshop culture whilst ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and company policies

THE ROLE

As an Experienced Bodyshop / Workshop Controller, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy accident repair centre, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards of quality. Must have AutoFlow experience.

You will lead the workshop team, manage repair progress, coordinate departments, and ensure customers receive an exceptional level of service throughout every stage of the repair process.

Key Responsibilities:

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced, organised, and motivational leader who has a proven track record of managing a successful accident repair workshop while delivering outstanding customer service and operational performance.

  • Previous experience as a Bodyshop Controller, Workshop Controller, Production Controller, or Bodyshop Team Leader within an automotive accident repair centre
  • Essential experience using Autoflow Bodyshop Management Software
