As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

Since then, British Airways has achieved many milestones, including breaking the record for the fastest transatlantic flight with Concorde and being the first airline to introduce fully lie-flat seats onboard.

This success is driven by our exceptional engineering teams who bring innovative ideas to life.

This is your chance to join one of the most diverse and innovative departments at British Airways, at a time when we’re re-imagining the way we fly the skies.

The role:

The Aircraft Workshop Services team is seeking dynamic, proactive Workshop Technicians to support our Fleet Support Facility or Powerplant Support Facility. Your role will involve performing maintenance, repairs, and fabrication under supervision, supporting on-wing tasks, and assisting with BA AOG recovery tasks at various locations.

You should have experience in some of the following skills:

  • Sheet Metal fabrication – bending, riveting, welding, heat treating, etc.
  • General Workshop/Hand Skills – installing/removing fasteners, drilling out sheared fasteners, sanding, cleaning, lubricating, painting, etc.

The Fleet Support Facility (FSF) is a bespoke workshop environment where complex repair solutions are fabricated to maintain BA’s aircraft to the highest standards. Are you ready for the challenge?

If selected as a Workshop Technician in the FSF, you will perform work safely and deliver world-class engineering solutions under supervision, demonstrating good hand skills, confidence, flexibility, and teamwork.

Please note: There are multiple vacancies, with some positions working Monday to Friday (7 am - 3 pm) and others on a 4-on/4-off 12-hour shift rota.

You must already have the right to live/work in the UK – this role does not sponsor visas.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform and certify rectification of defects according to approved maintenance data.
  • Change components as per scheduled maintenance inspections.
  • Perform maintenance tasks within your scope of authorization.
  • Conduct visual inspections and surveillance checks, issue certificates of release to service.
  • Share knowledge and provide coaching to others.
  • Use modern technology for documentation and transactions.

What you’ll bring:

  • Ability to obtain an airside pass for on-wing tasks (desirable).
  • Competence in reading and interpreting engineering data and technical publications.
  • Ability to write engineering data such as job cards.
  • Strong safety culture, self-motivation, good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good decision-making skills.

Your experience:

  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance and workshop authorization.
  • Experience with SAP and production support processes.
  • Understanding of quality, safety, human factors, and environmental legislation.
  • Proficiency in BA engineering IT systems.

What we offer:

We invest in our engineers’ professional development through various training programs, including self-study and structured courses at our Learning Academy at Heathrow.

Join a high-performance, dynamic environment with exciting projects and excellent staff travel benefits.

We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that values diversity. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to help us become a better BA as we connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
