Job summary

Stuart Power, a leading generator hire company, is seeking a Workshop Based Engineer to join our team in Immingham. You will be responsible for preparing equipment for hire, diagnosing faults, and performing repairs on a fleet of generators, pumps, and lighting towers.

You will identify parts, carry out major repairs to reduce downtime, and conduct load tests to ensure optimum performance. Previous experience in generator repair and a relevant mechanical qualification are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Mechanical/Diesel Fitting or Plant Fitting.
• Proven experience repairing generators is required.
• Experience in fault diagnosis and major repairs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment for hire and inspect for readiness.
• Diagnose faults and repair mechanical issues on generators, pumps and lighting towers.
• Identify parts needed for repairs and source them.
• Carry out major repairs to minimise downtime and maximise fleet availability.
• Load test generators to ensure equipment effectiveness.

Duties

• Preparation of equipment for hire
• Fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues on generators, pumps and lighting towers.
• Identify parts required to facilitate effective repairs
• Carry out major repairs to minimise downtime and maximise fleet availability. Including engine repairs and major rebuilds.
• Load test on generators to ensure effectiveness of equipment.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Possess a relevant qualification in Mechanical/ Diesel Fitting/ Plant Fitting
• Or, proven experience in a similar role repairing generators

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Previous experience within a rental environment.
• Experience rebuilding engines. Familiar with Perkins, CAT and Cummins engines.
