Job description

An exceptional opportunity for a mid-level Works Manager to shape the future of Property & Construction in Glasgow.

Glasgow's construction sector is busy right now. Residential schemes, commercial fit-outs and infrastructure work are all competing for the same pool of skilled site talent, and the firms winning that race are the ones who get their delivery structure right early. This is a young, fast-moving property and construction business built on a flat structure and quick decision-making, where a Works Manager gets real ownership rather than a seat at the back of a long reporting chain.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:
  • Running day-to-day site operations across multiple active projects in and around Glasgow
  • Scheduling labour, subcontractors and materials so programmes stay on track
  • Managing budgets and tracking costs against forecast, flagging variances before they become problems
  • Carrying out site inspections and resolving quality or safety issues as they come up
  • Liaising directly with clients, architects and subcontractors to keep everyone aligned
  • Mentoring site supervisors and junior staff, building capability as the business grows
Here are the skills you’ll need:
  • Several years’ experience managing construction or property works, ideally at site or project level
  • Working knowledge of UK building regulations and site safety requirements (SMSTS or SSSTS desirable)
  • Comfortable reading programmes, budgets and technical drawings without someone translating them for you
  • Clear communicator who can hold their ground with contractors and clients alike
  • Used to making calls under pressure, not waiting for permission on every decision
  • Genuinely happy wearing more than one hat. Some weeks that means site, some weeks it means spreadsheets
Key perks and benefits:
  • Salary of £43,500 to £58,500, depending on experience
  • Equity and stock options, so you share in what you help build
  • Flexible working hours around a core office-based role in Glasgow
  • A genuine learning and development budget, not just a line in the handbook
  • Remote-friendly culture for the bits of the job that don't need to happen on site
Why pursue a career in Property & Construction?

Property and construction rewards people who can actually deliver, not just talk about it. Glasgow in particular has a strong pipeline of development work, which means a good Works Manager here is rarely short of options. Progress tends to follow results in this industry, often faster than in more corporate environments.
