Major Recruitment are recruiting for a Working Supervisor in Bilston Wolverhampton on behalf of our client an award-winning market leader in water treatment solutions. The role will involve supervising site teams while remaining hands-on with installation, servicing, maintenance and remedial works on mechanical process equipment at operational water and wastewater treatment sites across the UK.
As Working Supervisor, you will coordinate day-to-day site activities, ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently, and act as the main point of contact for operatives and site representatives. This is a site-based role involving outdoor work, regular travel and working away from home.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, brief and supervise site operatives and subcontractors, allocating work and monitoring progress.
- Work hands-on with the team on mechanical installation, assembly, servicing, preventative maintenance and remedial works.
- Plan daily activities, labour, tools and materials to meet programme and quality requirements.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and task briefings, and ensure the team understands approved RAMS.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental and site-specific procedures, including permit-to-work and confined-space controls.
- Complete dynamic risk assessments, stop unsafe work and escape hazards, defects or changes in scope.
- Interpret drawings and specifications, check completed work and record progress, defects and materials used.
- Liaise professionally with clients, project managers, site representatives and other contractors.
- Support fault finding and coordinate the safe removal, repair and replacement of mechanical equipment and components.
- Ensure tools, plant and PPE are suitable, inspected and used correctly.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the site is left safe, clean and secure.
- Complete site documentation accurately, including daily reports, timesheets, permits and handover records.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience supervising site teams within water treatment, wastewater, utilities, mechanical engineering or a similar process environment.
- A strong mechanical background with experience of installing, maintaining and repairing process equipment.
- Ability to lead by example and work productively alongside the site team.
- Good working knowledge of health and safety requirements, RAMS, permits to work and safe systems of work.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, follow specifications and organise labour, materials, tools and plant.
- Confident communicator with the ability to liaise with clients, site representatives, operatives and subcontractors.
- Good organisational, problem-solving and record-keeping skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and work away from home when required.
