Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead mechanical installation across water and wastewater projects. The role is site-based with travel across Birmingham and the West Midlands, requiring a hands-on leader who can deliver safely and to schedule.

You will oversee mechanical teams, read drawings, manage RAMS and permits, and coordinate with clients and engineers to ensure quality and on-time handover.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supervising mechanical works in water, wastewater, utilities or process engineering sectors.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical installation and construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing subcontractors and site-based teams.
• Good understanding of RAMS, permits, inspections and site safety requirements.
• CSCS / SSSTS / SMSTS or equivalent site qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical installation and construction activities on water and wastewater projects.
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, trades and site resources.
• Ensure works meet drawings, specifications, RAMS and project requirements.
• Manage day-to-day mechanical activities and coordinate with site management.
• Monitor progress against programme and report delays.
• Carry out inspections and ensure installation quality.
• Promote health, safety and environmental culture.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, snagging and handover.
• Ensure site documentation is completed accurately.
• Support Project Manager and Site Manager with planning and delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising mechanical installation and construction activities on water and wastewater projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality and programme standards.

This is a site-based role with travel required across Birmingham & West Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical installation activities across water and wastewater treatment projects.

• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, trades, and site resources.

• Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, RAMS, and project requirements.

• Manage day-to-day mechanical activities and coordinate with site management and other disciplines.

• Monitor progress against programme and report any issues or delays.

• Carry out inspections and ensure installations meet required quality standards.

• Promote and maintain a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.

• Liaise with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

• Assist with commissioning, testing, snagging, and handover activities.
