This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving - making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.
Location: This role can be based at our London Waterloo General Offices or in Milton Keynes, York or Crewe.
Hours: 35 hours per week with hybrid working. This role involves travel to depots nationally at least twice a week, and may include occasional nights and weekends where required to support other areas of SCO. Flexible working is actively encouraged.
Salary range: Band 3C, £55,596 to £67,813 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Supply Chain Operations (SCO) supports Route and Regional colleagues in the delivery of; infrastructure, materials, logistics, and customer service (through a national network of facilities and contracts). SCO provides essential support to the on-going enhancement, renewal, maintenance and safety of the railway.
The WHSE Manager roles support the safe delivery of all these activities through a business partnering model. This role will specifically support the Production Services team who manage the facilities at over 45 depots nationally, are responsible for the operational delivery of aggregates and materials nationally, as well as warehousing and Regional Delivery Centres. The WHSE Manager will be focusing on our Significant Injury and Fatality (SIF) risks and reducing our FWI.
Monitoring the Health, Safety and Environment strategy, business objectives and performance measures to enable Supply Chain Operations to meet its responsibilities for management of key Health and Safety impacts.
Motivate the team to continuously identify refine and implement effective controls for occupational safety and railway safety risks, including methods/ means of control and guidance on process.
Co-ordinate the HSE activities of the Supply Chain Operations function and maintain effective liaison with other parts of NR and relevant external regulatory bodies.
Support periodic meetings on H&S matters with external organisations to share and promulgate best practice and lessons learnt. Act as the point of the contact for the HSEA team.
Development of the document control function to certify it is fit for purpose and providing assurance of workforce activities.
Development, training and competency and evaluation of the HSEA staff to safely deliver their accountabilities.
Create and initiate the development of workforce HSE improvements projects as identified in the SCO safety improvement plan.
Direct and lead on providing line management with advice and support for all issues in operational, fleet safety and functional sites of work, in compliance with corporate Health and Safety Management System.
Develop effective plans for the implementation of new and revised processes in relation to operational and functional site health & safety.
Maintain a comprehensive risk register for workforce health & safety, developing appropriate actions for the removal/reduction of those risks.
Development and implementation of environmental assurance arrangements to measure compliance with the Supply Chain Operations EMS and its requirements.
Develop workforce communication strategies and confirm that all resources required are suitable and adequate.
Must be a member of the Institute of Occupational Health and safety (IOSH) at Certified (CertIOSH) level or above.
Knowledge of health and safety management system and compliance management processes.
Knowledge and experience of the railway operating environments.
Excellent interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisational skills.
Lead auditor or equivalent
Knowledge of contractual processes.
Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) regulations.
