Job summary

Network Rail in the United Kingdom seeks a technical support specialist to help manage Safety, Health & Environment systems. You will handle helpdesk requests, work with suppliers to investigate issues, and test system updates to ensure reliability and improvements across the platform.

Qualifications

About the role

What does the average day look like?

In this varied role, you'll provide support for our Safety, Health & Environment systems, helping colleagues resolve queries and get the most from the tools they use every day. Responsibilities include managing helpdesk requests, working with suppliers to investigate issues, testing system updates and enhancements, and supporting the delivery of improvement projects.


You'll also create user guidance, deliver training, and work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure our systems remain effective, reliable, and fit for the future. As part of a small specialist team, you'll play a key role in driving continuous improvement during an exciting period of industry change.


A little bit about the team...

You'll be joining a small, supportive team of three, led by the SHE Systems Manager, that plays a key role in maintaining and improving the organisation's Safety, Health & Environment systems. Working closely with colleagues across the business, the team provides expert support, delivers system enhancements and helps ensure users get the most from the tools available to them.


It's an exciting time to join, with significant industry change on the horizon and opportunities to contribute to projects that will help shape the future of SHE systems. The team works collaboratively, values fresh ideas and is always looking for ways to improve processes, making it a great environment for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, continuous improvement and working with a wide range of stakeholders.

Your experience and skills

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting users, and improving systems. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps, would be beneficial, along with a background in system support, helpdesk, or a similar technical role.


The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while building effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers. Experience of Health, Safety and Environment systems or the rail industry is advantageous, but not essential.



  • An understanding of Health and Safety systems and data processes

  • Good communication skills and a customer focussed approach

  • Experience of software development technologies, primarily Microsoft Power Platform

  • Experience of scheduling and managing multiple workstreams
