Job summary

The Best Connection are recruiting a wiring and tape operative for our Redditch client to work full-time with 8:00–16:30 shifts and a 15:00 finish on Fridays. This long-term temp-to-perm opportunity includes comprehensive training lasting 6–12 months.

You will set and operate small rolling and bonding mills to achieve precise tolerances, calculate lengths with Excel and mental arithmetic, and support other production activities as required. Training and overtime potential are available.

Qualifications

• Calm and collected approach, able to work with small detail.
• Strong mechanical understanding; tested in interview.
• Long-term position; training lasts 6–12 months.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate small rolling and bonding mills to achieve tight tolerances.
• Operate slitting (shearing) machines with precision and consistency.
• Compute lengths and quantities using Excel and mental arithmetic.
• Assist with other production activities as required in the factory.

The Best Connection are recruiting for a wiring and tapes operative for our long time client in Redditch. The role offers shifts Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 16:30pm and a 15:00pm finish on a Friday. Long term, temp to perm positions for the right candidates!

Job description;

• Full-time (08:00 - 16:30, finish 15:00 on Friday) setter/operator in a Redditch manufacturing company.
• £14.00 per hour.
• Working with tight-tolerance materials requiring patience, focus, and steady hands.
• Setting and operating small rolling and bonding mills to achieve highly accurate tolerances.
• Operating slitting (shearing) machines, ensuring precise and steady results.
• Calculating lengths and quantities of strips with the aid of both Excel and mental arithmetic.
• The company appreciates this is a niche industry, so full and comprehensive training will be given to the right candidate.
• Supporting other production activities, predominantly in rolled products but elsewhere in the factory if required.

Requirements Of Wiring and Tape Operative:

• Takes a calm and collected approach, driven by working with small fine detail.
• High mechanical understanding (will be tested in the interview).
• Looking for a long-term position (training lasts 6 - 12 months).
• Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ideally has experience with ERP systems like SAP. (Maths, Excel will be tested in the interview).
• Receptive to working overtime at short notice (after 16:30, or Saturday mornings).
• Comfortable with being trained on and using numerous machines on a daily basis.
