Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a Resilience Commissioning Lead to safeguard the county’s highways during winter and major emergencies. You will oversee commissioning of winter maintenance and reactive services, apply asset management, and provide expert support during severe weather.

With responsibility for resilience assets, staffing resources, and budget management, you will contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement, while deputising for the Local Highway Commissioner

Qualifications

• Significant experience in managing or commissioning highways winter maintenance services.
• Strong understanding of asset management principles and health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Local Highway Commissioner in commissioning winter maintenance and reactive maintenance services.
• Apply asset management principles to maintain grit bins and weather stations.
• Provide specialist advice and support during emergencies and severe weather events.
• Monitor service performance and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Deputise for the Local Highway Commissioner in strategic forums and partnership meetings.
• Take ownership of technical enquiries and develop solutions.
