East Midlands Councils is seeking a Resilience Commissioning Lead to safeguard Derbyshire’s highways during winter and emergency events. You will manage resilience assets, oversee staffing resources, and contribute to strategic planning protecting residents and economic activity.

You will support the Local Highway Commissioner in commissioning winter maintenance and reactive services, applying asset management to grit bins and weather stations, and providing expert guidance during emergencies.

Keep Derbyshire Moving: Resilience Commissioning Lead

Are you ready to play a vital role in safeguarding Derbyshire’s highways during winter and emergency events? We’re looking for an experienced Resilience Commissioning Lead to support the strategic commissioning and management of the Council’s winter maintenance service and reactive maintenance activities.

This is a key role ensuring the county’s highway network remains safe, reliable, and prepared for severe weather and exceptional events. You’ll manage resilience-related assets, oversee critical staffing resources, and contribute to strategic planning that protects residents and supports economic activity.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline) or substantial relevant experience.
• Extensive experience in highways maintenance, specifically winter and resilience operations.
• Proven ability to manage contractors, suppliers, and volunteer groups.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE, IHE, CIHT).
