Balfour Beatty Living Places is recruiting a Ganger to lead a small highways team in Buckinghamshire. You will organise on-site works, supervise operatives and ensure safety, quality and efficiency across reactive, routine and emergency maintenance.
The role requires experience in highways or civil works, strong leadership, and the ability to adapt to emergencies and out-of-hours work. A range of relevant qualifications is preferred, with training provided as needed.
Balfour Beatty Living Places has an opportunity for a Ganger to join our Highways team in Buckinghamshire.
You will lead a small operational team delivering reactive, emergency, routine and winter maintenance activities across the Buckinghamshire Highways contract. This is a hands‑on role where you will organise works on site, support your team and help ensure every activity is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
The role will involve a broad range of highways maintenance work, including minor civil engineering, temporary and permanent repairs, emergency attendance and making sites safe. You will also be responsible for the effective use of plant, equipment and resources while maintaining high standards of service for customers and members of the public.

You will have:
Experience in areas such as drainage, concreting, kerbing, block laying, slabbing, road signs, patching, pothole repairs, road gritting or general finishing works would be advantageous.
Relevant qualifications may include:
Additional qualifications in winter maintenance, plant operation, safe digging, excavation, confined spaces or commercial vehicle driving would also be beneficial. Training may be provided for essential role requirements.
