Job summary

BSW Group is seeking a Log Yard Operator based in Fort William to operate a wheeled loader with a bucket and work as part of a small team. The role focuses on handling timber and coproducts, with responsibilities including loading and unloading, weighbridge duties, and maintaining site traffic controls.

Applicants should have a full driving licence and the ability to meet deadlines while upholding Health & Safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience using heavy mobile plant is preferred but training can be provided.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Be flexible and work well as part of a small team.
• High level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Appreciation of quality and Health & Safety.
• Full Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wheeled loader with a bucket.
• Load wood chip, bark and sawdust.
• Move logs using a 360 material handler and wheeled loader.
• Unload log wagons.
• Operate weighbridge: book in/out sawn goods, logs and coproducts; control site traffic movements.
