Job summary

BSW Group is seeking a Stockyard Operator based at the Dalbeattie sawmill to handle duties across the Sawn Timber Stock Yard, working within a team and individually to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

Responsibilities include housekeeping, dispatch/loading tasks, site route maintenance, and driving heavy mobile plant. The role requires attention to quality, safety awareness, and a full driving licence, with training provided where needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience with heavy mobile plant preferred but not essential with training provided.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to work well in a small team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence.

Job description

Full-Time/Permanent

Based at our Dalbeattie sawmill, you will be responsible for a variety of duties across the Sawn Timber Stock Yard, working within

a team and individually to ensure we fulfil customer orders accurately and to deadline.

Specifically, some responsibilities of a Stockyard Operator include:

  • General housekeeping of Stock Yard.
  • Part of a fast-moving Despatch / Loading team.
  • General maintenance of main routes on site for traffic/people movement.
  • Driving heavy mobile plant.

About you:

We are seeking an attentive and organised individual who is quality focused, can work to meet deadlines and understands the value of the goods they are working with. In addition, you’ll have:

  • Experience using heavy mobile plant would be preferred but is not essential as full training can be provided.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be flexible and work well as part of a small team.
  • A high level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Appreciation of quality and Health & Safety.
  • Full Drivers Licence.
