Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a practical Wheelchair Equipment Technician to join the East Berkshire Specialist Wheelchair Service in Maidenhead. The role focuses on preparing and adjusting wheelchairs and mobility equipment for adults and children, in collaboration with therapists and engineers.

Candidates with mechanical, engineering or hands-on experience are welcome; full training will be provided. A full driving licence is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on aptitude with confidence using hand tools.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely with equipment.
• Good communication and professional approach to patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for wheelchairs and equipment alongside therapists and engineers.
• Set up, deliver and demonstrate manual wheelchairs and accessories.
• Carry out mechanical adjustments and modifications to wheelchairs.
• Assist with stock control and ensure equipment meets requirements.
• Support safe moving and handling of patients and equipment.
• Work with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
