Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Welsh Medium Nursery Teaching Assistant to join Cardiff nurseries. You will support learning through play and daily routines, with a focus on developing Welsh language skills.

Welsh Medium Nursery Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Pay: £93 per day (paid weekly)

Are you passionate about supporting young children during the early stages of their learning and development? Are you a fluent Welsh speaker looking to make a positive difference in a Welsh-medium school environment?

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a number of Welsh-medium primary schools across Cardiff who are seeking enthusiastic, nurturing, and dedicated Nursery Teaching Assistants to support pupils within their nursery settings.

Whether you're an experienced childcare practitioner, a recent graduate, studying towards a childcare qualification, or looking to gain experience in education, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Welsh Medium Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and nursery staff to support children's learning, wellbeing, and development through play-based learning and daily routines.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting children's learning through play and structured activities
• Assisting with the development of early language, literacy, and numeracy skills through the Welsh language
• Encouraging children's social, emotional, and personal development
• Supporting children during group activities, story time, and outdoor learning
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships
• Providing one-to-one and small group support where required
• Assisting with classroom organisation, resources, and learning materials
• Supporting children's personal care needs where appropriate
• Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Supporting children's wellbeing, safeguarding, and overall development

• Fluent Welsh speaker (essential)
• A genuine passion for working with young children
• Caring, patient, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable, enthusiastic, and adaptable attitude
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Understanding of child development and early years education
• Previous childcare, nursery, early years, or classroom experience is desirable but not essential
• Relevant childcare qualifications are welcomed but not required
