Job summary

Academics is recruiting Welsh cover supervisors to supervise secondary classes in Welsh-medium schools in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area. This temporary role begins on 2 November 2026 and offers flexible work, with opportunities to gain experience for future education roles.

You will create a safe learning environment and manage set-work provided by subject teachers, while ensuring adherence to school policies and procedures. The position offers a clear pathway to CPD and professional development.

Qualifications

• Valid DBS clearance (can be produced through us).
• Registered with the Educational Workforce Council (EWC).
• University degree in progress.
• Previous experience with young people (coaching, TA, youth work).
• Welsh speaker.
• Confident.

Responsibilities

• Create a supportive learning environment where pupils stay on task and complete set-work
• Collect completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
• Produce feedback to the class teacher by outlining positive/negative behaviours, achievements, and any concerns.
• Upholding school policies and procedures related to child protection, health and confidentiality
• Through interaction, establish trust with pupils by tailoring to individual needs
