Wellbeing Advisor – Part-time (24 hours weekly, day shift)
Our Retirement Village in Berkhamsted welcomes applications for a Wellbeing Advisor who will work 24 hours per week on a day shift – 4 over 7. Candidates must be flexible and available on weekdays and weekends.
Ideally, applicants will hold a full first aid training certificate and an up‑to‑date DBS. Training and DBS can be provided for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls within the retirement village.
- Assess emergencies and provide appropriate assistance.
- Administer first aid and basic medical care when necessary.
- Ensure residents and staff know how to use the emergency call system.
- Carry out wellbeing baseline assessments for new residents before they move in.
- Improve overall wellbeing by providing information and awareness sessions on key health issues for over 55s and promoting self‑help groups.
- Coordinate with emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) as required.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff during emergencies.
- Support village team members with specialist wellbeing knowledge to promote healthy menus and general healthy eating programmes.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and actions taken.
- Provide moral and emotional support to residents.
Requirements
- Must have satisfactory DBS disclosure and references; medical clearance and right to work in the UK.
- Proven experience as an emergency responder, EMT, or similar role preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of primary care and referral to primary care.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid required.
- Holder of emergency first aid at work qualification and able to carry and deploy equipment in any part of the village.
- Experience using specialist equipment including defibrillator, evacuation or lifting chair.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during stressful situations.
- Empathy and understanding of the needs of elderly residents.
- Physical ability to respond quickly to emergencies and assist residents as needed.
