Job summary

The Defence Medical Welfare Service is seeking a part-time Armed Forces Welfare Officer to support serving personnel, veterans and families. The role involves working on a hospital and community-based medical pathway, with mobility and deployment as needed, aimed at improving access to welfare services for the military community.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen; do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people who have served in the armed forces and their families? We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team and independently, who is compassionate and enthusiastic about supporting the armed forces’ community. This role is part time Fixed contract, working 21 hours a week. If you have family and carers welfare experience, this role may be for you.

DMWS is an international charity that has been providing medical welfare support to the armed forces community for over 80 years.

Hospital and Community Based

Working with both serving and veteran personnel on a medical pathway primarily in the secondary healthcare. Your role will be to help individuals and families from the entire military community with a particular focus on hard-to-reach veterans their families and carers. Many veterans are unaware of the help available through the Armed Forces Covenant, and some find it difficult to ask for help.

All DMWS Armed Forces Welfare Officers need to be prepared to be mobile and deployable. Additionally, you should be willing to work flexibly to meet job demands. In return, you will be working within a dynamic organisation, making a real difference and receiving great benefits.
