Job summary

DMWS is seeking a part-time Armed Forces Welfare Officer (AFWO) based at The Chavasse Clinic, within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves supporting armed forces community members with non-clinical needs, improving discharge times, and working both in teams and independently.

The position is a fixed contract, 21 hours per week over 3 days, with at least one Thursday shift. Candidates should have family and carers welfare experience if possible and must hold a valid

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Experience in family and carers welfare is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to address non-clinical needs in the care pathway.
• Assist with discharge planning to improve time to community care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen; do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people who have served in the armed forces and their families? We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team and independently, who is compassionate and enthusiastic about supporting the armed forces’ community. This role is part time Fixed contract, working 21 hours a week over 3 days, one of which must be a Thursday. If you have family and carers welfare experience, this role may be for you.

DMWS is an international charity that has been providing medical welfare support to the armed forces community for over 80 years.

Based within, The Chavasse Clinic University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, The DMWS Armed Forces Welfare Officer (AFWO) will support armed forces community members within the patient’s care pathway, providing person centred support to address nonclinical needs, and improving discharge time of the service users to the community.
