Welfare & Family Support Officer

NJC Scale Point 14- 20 (£28,624 to £31,586 FTE) Actual Salary £24,712 to £27,269 per annum
37 hours per week
39 weeks per year (term time + one week)
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable Welfare & Family Support Officer to join our professional and experienced welfare team. The role is crucial in tackling underachievement by working in partnership with families and staff to enable children to have full access to educational opportunities and overcome barriers to learning and participation.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, resilience and the ability to work under pressure.In addition, the ability to carry out home visits in the local community is a key requirement of the role. Experience within safeguarding processes and procedures is essential and relevant training will be provided.
The post would suit someone who has experience and/or training of delivering welfare focused interventions to children/families (e.g. emotional literacy, anger management, anxiety management, drawing and talking).
A visit to the Academy prior to application is highly recommended .
If you have:
· Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject and/or proven experience of working successfully in a pastoral support role for children & families
· excellent written and oral communication skills
· exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork
· the ability to carry out home visits in the local vicinity
· a social care background or you are an active DSL
