Job summary

North Wales is seeking a Welfare and Engagement Officer to support designated workforce areas by delivering critical incident debriefings and resolving welfare issues. You will gather welfare intelligence and promote wellbeing initiatives, working with the HR team to implement engagement plans.

The role requires CVF level 1, strong communication, confidentiality and organisational skills, plus willingness to train in ESTIP Debrief Model and travel within the Force area.

Qualifications

  • Ability to build rapport and engage with individuals and teams at all levels.
  • Demonstrated openness and empathy in dealing with people.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of mental health and wellbeing issues.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Experience delivering training, briefings and awareness sessions.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage a workload.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Good record keeping and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to complete North Wales Police ESTIP Debrief training.
  • Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Valid full driving licence and ability to travel within the Force area.

Job Advert Description

Welfare and Engagement Officer

To provide support to a designated area of the workforce by being a local contact for delivering critical incident debriefings, resolving welfare issues whilst gathering intelligence about welfare and wellbeing issues. To support delivery of the Force Wellbeing Strategy & promotions and to work alongside the wider HR team to deliver engagement plans.

You will be required to demonstrate in your application the minimum requirement for the role:

  • Experience and understanding of traumatic situations and their potential impact on individuals;
  • The ability to build a rapport and engage with individuals and teams at all levels;
  • Able to demonstrate openness and empathy in dealing with people;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • An Understanding of mental health and wellbeing issues and the factors that contribute to these;
  • Understanding the application of confidentiality;
  • Experience of delivering training, briefings and awareness sessions to a variety of different people and groups;
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;
  • Good record keeping skills and attention to detail;
  • Be willing to successfully complete the North Wales Police training in Critical Incident ESTIP Debrief Model;
  • Good IT skills, including evidence of use of Microsoft Office programs;
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel within the Force area.
