Job summary

Omega Resource Group in Cheltenham is seeking a Process Engineer to develop, optimise and maintain automated welding processes and related equipment, ensuring product quality and process capability across production and NPI.

You will lead improvements, define welding parameters, support audits, and collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain to drive weld reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical engineering processes.
• Proven experience with automated or robotic welding systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and optimise mechanical engineering processes for production and NPI.
• Define and control welding parameters (current, travel speed, wire feed, shielding gas, heat input).
• Establish robust procedures and operating windows for repeatable welds.
• Support audits related to welding processes and controls.
• Provide technical support to resolve weld quality issues and lead root cause analysis.
• Specify, commission, and validate automated welding equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
• Drive Lean six-sigma based continuous improvement and collaborate across functions.
