Job summary

Unipart Manufacturing is launching a flagship electrification assembly project in Coventry, requiring a hands-on Welding Engineer to lead development, validation, and process control of welding across battery module packs and electrification assemblies.

You will translate engineering specifications into Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), oversee weld quality testing, and bridge prototype development into volume series manufacturing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Degree or HND in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Proven welding process development experience in automotive, aerospace, defence, or high-precision manufacturing.
Experience with weld testing methods and materials joining analysis.

Responsibilities

Develop, optimise, and validate welding processes from concept to volume production.
Translate customer requirements into Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) and PV schedules.
Implement destructive and non-destructive weld quality testing using lab equipment to evaluate joint integrity.
Develop PFMEAs, Control Plans, and DOEs to support NPI and rapid root-cause problem solving.
Ensure welding operations adhere to industry standards and SHE procedures.
