Job summary
Unipart Manufacturing in Coventry is seeking a technical Welding Engineer to lead development, validation, and control of welding across battery modules and electrification assemblies. You will translate specs into Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) and oversee weld quality testing, bridging prototypes to volume production in a high-impact environment.
You'll bring hands-on experience in power beam, TIG, and MIG welding within automotive or high-precision manufacturing, plus a degree or HND in
Qualifications
- Experience with power beam, TIG and MIG welding in high-precision manufacturing.
- Degree or HND in materials-related engineering with data-driven skills.
- Knowledge of weld testing and metrology.
Responsibilities
- Develop, validate welding and joining processes from concept through volume production.
- Translate requirements into Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and PV schedules.
- Implement destructive and non-destructive weld quality testing with metrology tools.
- Develop PFMEAs, Control Plans, and DOEs to support NPI and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure welding operations comply with industry standards and SHE procedures.
