Job summary

The Welding, NDT & Coating QC Supervisor role is based on Teesside, UK, with a major engineering contractor delivering pipeline installations for a UK Carbon Capture project. You will supervise welding, NDT and coating inspection activities and ensure QC Plans are correctly implemented across the site, assisting the Onshore Quality Engineer.

The ideal candidate has hands-on welding and NDT inspection experience, CSWIP/PCN qualifications, and prior supervision of subcontractor inspection teams on

Qualifications

• Experienced multi-disciplined Inspector / QC Supervisor in Oil & Gas.
• Proven ability to review ITPs, procedures and method statements for welding, NDT and coating activities.
• Deep knowledge of inspection documentation, QC turnover and defect identification.

Responsibilities

• Review subcontractor Quality Control Plans, ITPs, procedures and method statements for welding, NDT and coating.
• Ensure documentation complies with project specifications, codes, standards and contractual requirements.
• Review and support approval of Subcontractor QC personnel including Welding Inspectors, NDT Technicians and Coating Inspectors.
• Verify inspector qualifications and certification (CSWIP, PCN, AWS, BGAS/ICorr/NACE).
• Attend witness and hold points within approved ITPs.
• Supervise Subcontractor inspections and ensure work follows approved procedures.
• Review NDT results, welding inspection reports and coating inspection records.
• Maintain quality documentation and traceability throughout works.
• Ensure Subcontractor documentation meets project turnover requirements.

Welding, NDT & Coating QC Supervisor

• Location: Teesside, North East England
• Start: End of September/Early October
• Duration: 12 months
• Rate: £550 > £600 per day depending on experience
• IR35: Outside/Ltd company contract

We are looking for an experienced Welding, NDT & Coating QC Supervisor to join our client, a major engineering contractor responsible for the pipeline installation scope on a major Carbon Capture project in Teesside.

The successful candidate will supervise Welding, NDT and Coating inspection activities, ensuring Quality Control Plans are correctly implemented across the project. You will also support the Onshore Quality Engineer across the Landfall and Outlet Facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review Subcontractor Quality Control Plans, ITPs, procedures and method statements covering welding, NDT and coating activities.
• Ensure documentation complies with project specifications, applicable codes, standards and contractual requirements.
• Review and support approval of Subcontractor QC personnel, including Welding Inspectors, NDT Technicians and Coating Inspectors.
• Verify inspector qualifications and certification including CSWIP, PCN, AWS and BGAS/ICorr/NACE.
• Attend witness and hold points defined within approved ITPs.
• Supervise Subcontractor inspections and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved procedures.
• Review NDT results, welding inspection reports and coating inspection records.
• Verify inspections, testing and controls are completed in accordance with approved Quality Control Plans and ITPs.
• Maintain quality documentation, inspection records and traceability throughout the works.
• Ensure Subcontractor documentation meets project turnover requirements for both prefabrication and site works.

Experience Required

• Experienced Multi-Disciplined Inspector / QC Supervisor within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong experience across Welding, NDT and Coating inspection.
• Previous hands-on Welding and NDT inspection experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of welding and coating processes, inspection requirements and defect identification.
• Thorough understanding of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control requirements.
• Experience supervising Subcontractor inspection activities.
• Strong understanding of project specifications, inspection documentation and quality turnover requirements.
