Job description

Join to apply for the Welder – Pressure Vessel - Submarines role at Rolls-Royce.

Due to the growth of our business, several opportunities for Skilled Welders (time-served welding apprenticeship - City and Guilds, NVQ3 or equivalent) have arisen within the New Build and Components division of Rolls-Royce Submarine. You will join our experienced welding team working on the fabrication of complex pressure vessels and pipework, which are part of our next-generation products for the Royal Navy.

Salary and Benefits: Starting at £39,435 p/a, with up to 26% shift premium (dependent on shift pattern), opportunities for overtime, 33 days leave, and other corporate benefits. More information can be found here.

You will perform welding using manual and mechanised processes, including TIG and MIG, on various materials, adhering to high standards and quality inspections such as X-Ray, Ultrasonic, and LPI.

Responsibilities:

  • Welding to nuclear standards using technical instructions and drawings.
  • Ensuring process control and cleanliness standards.
  • Working with advanced welding technology in multiple positions, including 6G.
  • Collaborating within a team to resolve production and quality issues.

Candidate requirements:

  • Completed a recognised welding apprenticeship (City and Guilds, NVQ3, or equivalent).
  • Experience with thick gauge welding, preferably on pipes.
  • Experience in pressure welding with X-Ray, ultrasonic, or LPI inspection.
  • Welding skills across various materials, including stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Applicants must hold a UK nationality and Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats. Rolls-Royce supports the clearance process if needed.
