Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking a Fabricator/Welder in Walsall to join a busy fabrication workshop. You will manufacture medium to heavy fabricated structures from engineering drawings and ensure quality, safety and productivity.

The role involves plasma and oxy-cutting, overhead crane operation, goods-in checks, and assisting with site installations when required. Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4:30pm, 40 hours; agency/freelance contract until 27 November 2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience in medium to heavy fabrication and welding.
  • NVQ in Fabrication & Welding or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Experience operating an overhead crane.
  • Qualified in plasma and oxy-cutting equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Team player with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture medium and heavy fabricated structures from engineering drawings.
  • Cut, drill, tack and weld materials to required specs and tolerances.
  • Complete fabrication work in line with procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain material traceability and record stock usage.
  • Complete workshop checklists and production documentation.
  • Assist with goods-in activities and check deliveries.
  • Operate overhead cranes safely within the workshop.
  • Support site installation activities when required.
  • Package finished products for delivery.
  • Contribute to stock audits and stock checks.
  • Maintain housekeeping and health & safety standards.
  • Work with fabrication team and management to meet timescales.

Fabricator / Welder

Location: Walsall, WS1 4AG
Rate: £17.00 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Until 27th November 2026
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join a busy fabrication workshop in Walsall.

This role involves the manufacture of medium to heavy fabricated steel structures, working from engineering drawings and company-controlled documentation. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting workshop operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacture medium and heavy fabricated structures from engineering drawings.
  • Cut, drill, tack and weld materials to required specifications and tolerances.
  • Complete fabrication work in line with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain material traceability and accurately record stock usage.
  • Complete workshop checklists and production documentation.
  • Assist with goods-in activities, checking deliveries and materials received.
  • Operate overhead cranes safely within the workshop environment.
  • Support site installation activities when required.
  • Package finished products ready for delivery.
  • Contribute to stock audits and annual stock checks.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and health & safety standards.
  • Work closely with the fabrication team and management to deliver work within agreed timescales.
Requirements
Essential
  • Experience in medium to heavy fabrication and welding.
  • NVQ in Fabrication & Welding or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Experience operating an overhead crane.
  • Qualified and experienced in plasma and oxy-cutting equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Team player with a proactive approach to work.
Desirable
  • Previous site installation experience.
  • Forklift licence.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
