Job Description

  1. Performs successfully all responsibilities of the Code Welder position, maintaining a minimum of 3 weld certifications.
  2. Reads and interprets blueprints with detailed drawings and dimension styles.
  3. Prepares weld surfaces as required.
  4. Sets up, positions and operates hand and power tools such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  5. Determines welder settings required on project.
  6. Verifies final weld penetration and aesthetics.
  7. Welds prep and fit-up of steel parts.
  8. Welds according to all appropriate codes and procedures.
  9. Uses basic math skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions as needed.
  10. Monitors quality of weld using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
  11. Checks welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
  12. Performs grinding, gouging, chipping operating a grinder, cutting torch, etc.
  13. Operates forklift, as needed, according to safe operating procedures.
  14. Performs all functions safely and follows all safety standards and procedures.
  15. Improves him/herself in any way possible to enhance job performance.
  16. Understands and promotes the ISO 9001/2015 culture ensuring that every function and operation happens with high quality.
  17. Functions as a team member by assisting supporting and encouraging other employees in any way possible.
  18. The employee adheres to all company policies.
  19. Demonstrates commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads others to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements.
  20. Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSE team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable.
  21. Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
  22. Implements standardized methods in order to identify complex problems.
  23. Supports pro-actively the service team to achieve objectives.
  24. Ensures works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with work procedures and instructions.
  25. Prepares and works with Site supervisor and Service manager to follow-up deviations and claims.
  26. Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects.
  27. Keeps the Site Supervisor informed of all site related activities.

Qualifications

Job specific qualification:

  1. City and Guilds Level 3 Engineering.
  2. Experienced in delivering Welding services to a large industrial plant.
  3. Experienced in performing work in accordance with HSEQ legal requirements.
  4. Knowledge of relevant international and national technical standards.
  5. Working in enclosed space certified.

Specific knowledge required for roles:

  1. Pressure Parts: Simple Pressure Vessel Directive 2009/105/EC, 2014/29/EC; and Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, 2014/68/EC.
  2. Machinery: Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC; ATEX 95 Equipment Directive 94/9EC, 2014/34/EC; and ATEX 137 Workplace Directive 1999/92/EC (to the extent applicable).
  3. Solution orientated.
