Job summary

Hayward Tyler, Inc. is seeking a skilled coded welder for our UK operation. You will weld to specifications, prepare surfaces, and log activities in Epicor.

The UK site employs around 130 people with global reach in industrial pumps and motors. The role requires a time-served welding apprenticeship and at least five years of coded welding in engineering, with capability to weld open-root pipe or plate using TIG, MMA/SMAW and MAG processes.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship and coded welding qualifications required.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as coded welder in an engineering environment.
• Experience with UT/RT/NDT inspection methods.
• Experience in welding on pressure vessels or piping systems.
• Brazing experience is essential; torch or induction brazing desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding of components in line with specifications, drawings and procedures.
• Set up and prepare weld surfaces and equipment.
• Log work using ERP systems (e.g. Epicor) to maintain booking compliance.
• Maintain quality, health & safety and housekeeping (5S).
• Weld tests may be required during the interview process.

Job description

What you will do:

• Carry out welding of components in line with specifications, drawings and procedures
• Obtain authorisation from the Welding Engineer or Welding Specialist before undertaking coded welding
• Set up and prepare weld surfaces and equipment
• Ensure all welding equipment is inspected and calibrated prior to use
• Monitor consumables and support stock control activities
• Maintain rod stores and record temperature/humidity levels in line with procedures
• Log work using ERP systems (e.g. Epicor) to maintain booking compliance
• Meet production routing times and customer requirements
• Maintain high standards of quality, health & safety and housekeeping (5S)
• Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures

What you will need:

• Time served welding apprenticeship
• Minimum 5 years experience as a coded welder in an engineering environment
• Ability to weld to coded standards and maintain coded welder certification
• Ability to weld open-root pipe or plate using TIG (GTAW), MMA/SMAW and MAG (GMAW) processes
• Ability to work with carbon and stainless steels across a range of thicknesses
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures
• Coded welding qualifications against approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and applicable standards, such as ISO, ASME or AWS
• Experience of welding work subject to inspection using UT, RT or other non-destructive testing (NDT) methods
• Experience in a manufacturing environment involving pressure vessels or piping systems, including critical components welded to recognised standards
• Experience in brazing is essential; hands-on experience in torch or induction brazing would be desirable

Double Days Shift

Monday to Thursday: 06.00 to 14.15

Friday: 06.00 to 12.00

30 minutes unpaid daily lunch break taken from 11.30 to 12.00 Monday to Thursday.

No lunch break on Friday.

Late Shift

Monday to Thursday: 14.15 to 22.30

Friday: 12.00 to 18.00

30 minutes unpaid daily lunch break taken from 18.00 to 18.30.

No lunch break on Friday.

As part of the interview process, applicants will be asked to weld test pieces to demonstrate their practical skills.

All candidates must be able to prove that they have the right to work in the UK.
