Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a skilled Coded Welder for a respected engineering manufacturer in Luton. You will produce components to drawings and approved welding procedures, welding carbon and stainless steels.

The role requires a completed welding apprenticeship, 5+ years coded welding experience, and expertise in TIG, MMAW, MAG and open-root welding with full root penetration. You will interpret drawings and comply with ISO/ASME/AWS standards.

Qualifications

  • Completed welding apprenticeship.
  • Minimum five years coded welding experience in an engineering environment.
  • Open-root pipe or plate welding with TIG/GTAW, MMA/SMAW and MAG/GMAW.
  • TIG welding with full root penetration experience.
  • Experience with carbon and stainless steels across thicknesses.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications.
  • Coded qualifications to ISO/ASME/AWS.
  • Experience producing welds subject to ultrasonic or radiographic testing.
  • Experience with pressure vessels or piping systems.
  • Brazing experience is essential; torch/induction brazing desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Complete coded welding with appropriate authorisation.
  • Check equipment condition and calibration before use.
  • Monitor consumables and maintain records in ERP.
  • Record completed work in the ERP system.

  • Follow health, safety and environmental procedures.

Proactive Global is recruiting a Coded Welder for an established engineering manufacturer in Luton. You will produce components and sub-assemblies to engineering drawings and approved welding procedures, working with carbon and stainless steels.

What you will be doing:
  • Welding components to drawings, specifications and approved procedures.
  • Preparing weld surfaces and setting up equipment.
  • Completing coded welding with the appropriate authorisation.
  • Checking equipment condition and calibration before use.
  • Monitoring consumables and maintaining storage records.
  • Recording completed work through the ERP system.
  • Meeting production requirements while maintaining high-quality welds.
  • Following health, safety and environmental procedures.
What you will bring:
  • A completed welding apprenticeship.
  • At least five years’ coded welding experience in an engineering environment.
  • Open-root pipe or plate welding experience using TIG/GTAW, MMA/SMAW and MAG/GMAW.
  • TIG welding and full root penetration experience.

  • Experience with pressure vessels, piping systems or similar critical components.
  • Brazing experience, which is essential. Torch or induction brazing experience is desirable.
