Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Weighbridge Operator for the Harlow Waste Transfer Station. This permanent, full-time role involves managing site traffic, supervising weighbridge duties, and ensuring accurate waste record-keeping to meet contractual KPIs.

The successful candidate will liaise with third parties, contractors, and staff, ensure legal compliance, and lead on weighbridge system maintenance while maintaining strict health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Desirable minimum GCSE (or equivalent by experience) in English and Maths.
• Working knowledge of waste duty of care requirements.
• Experience with weighbridge software; previous experience in waste sector.
• Ability to learn and use computer systems and packages; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all site traffic and visitors as first point of contact.
• Lead on weighbridge duties and ensure accurate records of weights and waste types.
• Coordinate with 3rd parties and internal staff to meet KPIs and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations at all times.
• Arrange maintenance for the weighbridge system and report defects to minimize downtime.
