Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Veterinary Surgeon to join our long-standing, collaborative team at Medivet Richmond 24-Hour Hospital. If you're looking for an engaging, hands-on role within a well-equipped hospital environment, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

This is a part-time position, covering weekends only, making it ideal for those seeking a better work-life balance while still engaging in a dynamic clinical setting. If you’re looking for additional hours, we can also tailor a schedule that includes weekday work at Richmond or across nearby Medivet branches.

We’re seeking a dedicated team player with at least 3–5 years of UK experience, who is confident with general practice duties. Experience and/or a keen interest in medicine and ultrasonography would be particularly welcome, though not essential.

As a busy 24-hour hospital, we encounter a diverse range of cases, spanning from routine consultation, surgeries and dental treatments to complex medical and surgical workups. With our in-house capabilities including full lab, x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and CT, we handle diagnostics efficiently using modern equipment.

Furthermore, we have several advanced procedures proficient in laparoscopic surgeries, soft tissue surgeries (thyroidectomy, anal gland removal, BOAS and entropion) and orthopaedic surgeries (TPLO, fracture repairs, patella luxation and FHNE). This enables our vets to comprehensively manage their cases in house.

You’ll be joining an experienced, supportive, and long-standing team, many of whom have worked at Richmond for over a decade. The current team includes 7 day vets, 3 night vets, 6 day RVNs, 2 night RVNs, 4 SVNs, 3 PCAs, and 5 CCAs. The hospital is also proud to be a nurse training practice and a graduate vet residency provider, contributing to the growth of the next generation of veterinary professionals.

We are an RCVS-accredited Small Animal Hospital, with Emergency and Critical Care accreditation, ensuring that our standards of care and facilities are second to none.

Located in picturesque South West London, Medivet Richmond is easily accessible — just a short distance from Kew Gardens and Richmond Park, and well-connected via mainline rail, Overground, Underground, and bus routes. Free parking is available within walking distance, and the M3 and M4 motorways are nearby.

Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, gain exposure to advanced procedures, or simply want to be part of a dedicated and friendly hospital team — we’d love to hear from you.
