Job summary

Tong Garden Centre is seeking friendly Kitchen Assistants for weekend shifts in a busy catering team. This casual temporary entry level role focuses on helping with food prep, cooking and delivering great customer experiences in a fast-paced kitchen.

Shifts run Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm, with daytime hours and a supportive team. Experience in kitchen or hospitality is welcome, and a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable to help maintain high standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen, catering or hospitality environment.
• Works well in a busy team and communicates effectively.
• Organised, reliable and able to use their initiative.
• Understands food hygiene, allergens and kitchen safety.
• Can stay calm under pressure and maintain high standards.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to a high standard.
• Support the team to deliver great food and service.
• Receive, store and organise deliveries.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and cleaning standards.
• Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Check stock, dates and food quality.
• Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Help reduce waste and keep the kitchen organised.
