Job summary

Blue Sky Brokers is seeking a Weekend Personal Assistant to support an 11-year-old autistic, mostly non-verbal son with weekend leisure activities in Salford. A two-week orientation will help you become comfortable and build trust for a long-term role.

Hours are 6 hours per week term-time and 8 hours per week during school holidays, typically Saturdays/Sundays with flexible start times. DBS check and driving licence preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND, either directly or in a SEND setting.
• Understanding of autism and non-verbal communication support.
• Current DBS check is required.
• Driving licence and access to a car preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Accompany and supervise our son during leisure activities and outings, ensuring safety and wellbeing.
• Support him during swimming sessions, visits to parks, trampolining and similar activities.
• Follow the weekly activity schedule provided at the start of each week.
• Communicate patiently, recognising his ways of expressing needs and preferences.
• Encourage enjoyment and participation while respecting his needs and interests.
• Create a calm, positive, and supportive environment where he feels comfortable and secure.
