Job description

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists are recruiting for a Weekend Patient Care Assistant. This is a part-time permanent role. Your working week/rota will be every Saturday from 6am - 4.30pm.

AMVS is located in the beautiful location of Winchester in Hampshire with close proximity to the seaside city of Southampton. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and passionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team here at Anderson Moores!

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Assist with patient handling and restraint.
  2. Ensure that all handling and restraint is carried out in a ‘patient friendly’ approach to ensure no unnecessary stress or discomfort to the patient.
  3. Involvement with handling medications and preparing these for dispensing.
  4. Prepare and maintain patient accommodation considering the condition and welfare of the patient, environmental enrichment and additional supporting aids as necessary.
  5. Clean and disinfect patient accommodation and all necessary areas of the practice.
  6. Provide in-patient care to include exercising, feeding, and grooming of hospitalized patients.
  7. Assist with laboratory diagnostic techniques to include preparation and maintenance of equipment, processing samples and packaging for external laboratories.
  8. Assist with diagnostic imaging to include maintenance and preparation of equipment and patient preparation and positioning.
  9. Clean, package and sterilize sterile supplies.
  10. Maintain theatre to include preparation of the environment and equipment and cleaning.
  11. Assist the Veterinary Surgeons, Registered and Student Veterinary Nurses, Reception staff and any other team member who requires support, where and when required.
  12. Attend and contribute to practice meetings and events.
  13. We encourage and support career development including training to be a Veterinary Nurse.
