Job summary

Xpert Recruitment are seeking a permanent Maintenance Technician for a manufacturing site in Stoke-on-Trent. You will maintain and improve site assets through reactive and preventative maintenance, supporting continuous improvement with safety central to all activities.

You will work a 3 x 12-hour shift pattern (Friday to Sunday) with day or night options and a focus on reducing downtime. A hands-on engineer with fault-finding skills and a collaborative approach will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance engineering experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support production to maximise equipment reliability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
• Complete maintenance records using digital systems.
• Participate in shift handovers and communicate across teams.
• Maintain inventory and spare parts accountability.
• Support safety investigations and risk assessments.
• Assist with equipment installation, upgrades and commissioning.

Job description

Xpert Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a client for a permanent Maintenance Technician position based in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team supporting a continuous manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving site assets through reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement activities, with safety always being the number one priority.

Salary

£45,000 - £47,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Plus, shift allowance:
Days: 15% uplift
Nights: 30% uplift

Shift Pattern

Friday, Saturday and Sunday
3 x 12-hour shifts per week either a night shift OR day shift

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support production teams to maximise equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
• Complete maintenance records and reports using digital maintenance management systems.
• Participate in shift handovers and maintain effective communication with production and engineering teams.
• Maintain engineering inventory and spare parts accountability.
• Support safety investigations, risk assessments, and implementation of improvement actions.
• Assist with equipment installation, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
• Provide holiday and sickness cover as required and support other UK sites when needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
