Job summary

Xia Engineering is partnering with a leading manufacturing facility to recruit a skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. This role operates on a 3-shift rotation and offers a competitive salary up to £48,000 per annum plus overtime.

You will maximise production uptime, lead TPM schedules, and deliver both reactive and preventative maintenance solutions to support continuous operations. The role requires a multi-skilled background across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in electrical or mechanical discipline with 18th Edition Regulations.
• Experience in a fast-paced production environment, ideally automotive.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance & repair: prioritise and execute breakdown repairs and corrective tasks.
• TPM & planning: plan resources to perform TPM activities on schedule.
• Fault finding: diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Sub-contractors & suppliers: oversee planned services and liaise with external suppliers.
• Documentation & compliance: keep maintenance logs and reports up to date.
• Spare parts & budgets: manage stores and control expenditure.
• Communication: attend daily meetings and ensure smooth shift handovers.
• H&S standards: ensure health and safety and quality policies are followed.

You will place yourself at the heart of plant operations—maximising production uptime, driving Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) schedules, and delivering both reactive and preventative maintenance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repair: Prioritise and execute maintenance activities, efficiently handling breakdowns and corrective tasks.
• TPM & Planning: Plan time and resources to execute TPM activities to schedule, ensuring planned plant and equipment are made available.
• Fault Finding: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues across a variety of production equipment.
• Sub-Contractors & Suppliers: Oversee planned sub-contract services, liaise with external suppliers, and determine when specialist support is required.
• Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all paperwork, maintenance reports, and activity logs are completed accurately and kept 100% up to date by month-end.
• Spares & Budgets: Maintain the spare parts stores, order replacement parts, and ensure expenditure remains within agreed budgets.
• Collaboration & Communication: Attend daily production meetings to provide feedback, oversee comprehensive shift handovers, and support Process Engineers.
• H&S Standards: Maintain strict adherence to health and safety policies, procedures, and customer quality standards at all times.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Formal qualification in an electrical or mechanical discipline, alongside 18th Edition Regulations.

Technical Expertise

• Multi-skilled background spanning electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Proven experience with PLC fault finding and programming.
• Hands-on experience with plastic injection moulding (including tooling maintenance, cleaning, and insert changes across 250 to 1750-tonne machines).
• Industry Experience: Background working within a fast-paced production environment—ideally within the automotive sector.
• Licenses / Certificates: Valid Overhead Crane licence.
• Personal Attributes: Flexible approach to business requirements, strong team-working skills, and the ability to motivate colleagues and respond promptly to operational concerns
