Job summary

DS Smith in Kettering is hiring a Weekend Shift Engineer to join the engineering team. The role involves coordinating routine maintenance and reactive maintenance to ensure safe operation and asset reliability, with 36 hours across Fri–Sun.

You will manage spares, support production restoration and uphold safety standards. Applicants should be a fully qualified Electrical or Mechanical engineer (NVQ 3 or BTEC), with experience in maintenance and PPM delivery, and training in 5S/Lean/RCPS to

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Electrical or Mechanical engineer with NVQ/BTEC equivalent.
• Experience implementing and controlling PPM.
• Background in a maintenance environment within manufacturing.
• Training in 5S, Lean and problem solving methods is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain health and safety, following SSOW and procedures.
• Improve housekeeping in engineering workshops and site.
• Support preventative maintenance strategy and continuous improvement.
• Perform predictive, preventive and repair maintenance tasks.
• Hit KPIs for safety, quality and productivity.
• Supervise contractors and ensure contractual compliance.
• Keep comprehensive maintenance records and communicate findings.
• Collaborate with teams to improve cross-department relations and training.
